1. Introduction

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Scribology (“the Platform”), operated by Butler Scientific Communications, a self-employment business registered in Portugal and owned by Kaycie Butler. By accessing or using Scribology, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Platform.

2. Description of the Service

Scribology provides:

• Step-by-step animated lessons designed to teach research-writing skills
• Brainstorming tools and writing prompts
• Guided workflows similar to gamified learning platforms (e.g., Duolingo-style lesson progression)

The Platform is intended for educational and professional development purposes.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Scribology. By using the Platform, you represent that you meet this requirement and that all information you provide is accurate.

4. User Accounts

To access certain features, you need to create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information
• Maintain the security of your login credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
• Accept responsibility for all activity under your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use Scribology for unlawful purposes
• Attempt to access systems or data you are not authorized to access
• Interfere with the Platform’s functionality or security
• Upload or distribute harmful content (malware, spam, abusive material)
• Reverse-engineer, copy, or redistribute Platform content without permission

We may remove content or restrict access if we believe your behavior violates these Terms.

6. Intellectual Property

All content on Scribology — including lessons, animations, prompts, workflows, branding, and written materials — is owned by or licensed to Kaycie Butler.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the Platform’s content without explicit permission.

You retain ownership of any content you create using Scribology’s brainstorming or writing tools, but grant us a limited license to store and process it for Platform functionality.

7. Subscriptions and Payments

If Scribology offers paid plans or subscriptions:

• Prices and billing cycles will be displayed at checkout
• Payments are processed through third-party providers
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled
• You may cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the billing period

8. Availability and Modifications

We may update, modify, or discontinue parts of the Platform at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of major changes but are not obligated to maintain any specific feature.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

Scribology is provided “as is” and “as available.”

We do not guarantee:

• uninterrupted access
• error-free operation
• that the Platform will meet your specific needs

You use the Platform at your own risk.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Portuguese law, Butler Scientific Communications is not liable for:

• indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• loss of data, profits, or business opportunities
• issues arising from third-party services or integrations

Our total liability for any claim related to your use of Scribology will not exceed the amount you paid in the previous 12 months.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if:

• you violate these Terms
• you misuse the Platform
• we discontinue the service

You may stop using Scribology at any time.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Any disputes will be resolved in Portuguese courts unless otherwise required by consumer protection laws.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. When we do, we will post the revised version with an updated “Last Modified” date. Continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
